Approach and Methods
Become an expressive singer or public speaker with voice lessons for adults
Learn from an experienced voice coach how to use your voice to create the sound you desire and how to tell interesting stories that engage your audience. But the training does not stop there. Training the voice means also training body and mind and working on your personality. Working on mindset, mindfulness and awareness is helpful and plays a big role in managing the demands of a performer and public speaker.
Benefit from a consecutive, personalized curriculum based on up-to-date voice science and pedagogy.
Together we analyze what works and what limits your vocal production and performance. We create a personalized learning plan which will evolve the more your voice develops. This is no cookie-cutter approach. Everything we do in the studio is created to help you reaching your goals.
Thrive in a supporting and friendly environment.
Studying voice is an ongoing, fascinating discovery process. Besides times of quick progress and excitement, challenges will be faced and limitations need to be overcome. I give my students encouraging and honest feedback that enables them to grow. I cheer my students on, but I don't lie if something does not work. I acknowledge how brave my students are to work on themselves, their dreams and to get out of their comfort zone. That's courage, and it's rewarding and satisfying.
About Christine
I know… When you love to sing and speak but your voice is not doing what you want, frustration and self-doubt can build up quickly. I have been there and I am glad, this time is over.
Singing, speaking and teaching are very dear to my heart. 20 years ago, I started teaching voice lessons, because I wanted to empower singers and speakers like you to make their wish come true, giving them the knowledge they need to improve their voices. I love to see and hear the improvements in my students. It makes my day. It is fascinating how the voice can grow. You don't need to have great talent, just need to learn how to move and coordinate your muscles.
I got my professional training in Germany where I graduated with a double master's degree in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy. This was three years after I finished my master's in Music Education and German Education.
I performed in concerts, bands, operetta, musical and opera productions that helped me to gain the experiences that I share with my students today. Are you incredibly nervous before a show? It is safe to say so. I have been there many times. But this won't stop us, would it?
Besides helping my private students to develop their voices online and in my studio in Boston/Somerville, I train singers who love to sing in German. Some of them love German Art Song and some of them are preparing to audition for theaters and agencies in Germany. Check out the German Vocal Arts Institute (GVAI) that I founded 2016 in Seattle, WA. Now we are in Boston/Somerville, because I fell in love with this beautiful city when I came here to teach a masterclass at the classical singer convention at the Sheraton Boston in 2018.
Some of my teaching highlights include masterclasses at the Semper Opera in Germany, GVAI's summer programs 2016 - 2018 in Seattle, WA, masterclasses at music conservatories in China 2016, the CS Music Convention in Chicago 2017 and Boston 2018, at the University of Washington, at the Seattle Opera Teen Vocal Studio, my work as music director for the Seattle Opera Teen Summer Camp in 2019 and voice workshops for Harvard's Crimson Toastmaster Club 2020, and my workshop "Warm up your voice like a Pro" at the Communication Leadership Virtual Conference 2021 in which I worked with nearly 100 participants to reduce vocal fry and prepare their voices for successful speaking.
I love to learn and attend many continuing education opportunities for voice teachers to give my clients the best vocal training. In summer 2020, I successfully completed the Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy Institute of Shenandoah Conservatory.
I love helping shy and introverted clients find their strong, comfortable, and confident voices. My greatest happiness is when they suddenly say “Wow, I sound good!” When not teaching, I enjoy Salsa and Bachata dancing, learning Mandarin, reading, and traveling.
I believe singing and voice work make people happy, courageous, balanced and it creates a great community that makes the world a better place.
But now, let's come back to your dream. Let's build a team.
